One of the latest and greatest treat crazes is cupcake pops, and there are many reasons why they are fast becoming so popular. They are not limited to a particular time of year or occasion.

They make great gifts, party favors, baby shower sweets, holiday treats, or cheer me ups for someone who is a bit under the weather.

With all the ingredients you can use to make cake pops, they can be as unique as your imagination. Candy melts are available in such a wide range of colors, no holiday is left out. Here are a few ideas:

orange chocolate for Halloween pumpkin treats
red, white, and blue for Independence Day
white, red, and green for Christmas cake pops
blue or pink for baby showers, or use white chocolate and pink and blue confetti

If you like Oreo cookies and you’re also a cream cheese fan, you’ll probably love this Oreo Cream Cheese No Bake Pops Recipe. I use cupcake molds because I like the finished shape better, but you can make plain round ones too if you don’t want to use a mold. My kids enjoy using the no bake mold with these cake pops.

Ingredients

1 each 18-oz bag of Oreo cookies
1 each 8-oz package of cream cheese
Candy melts or almond bark
Candy sprinkles and M&M’s

Other Items

Cupcake Pop Mold
Lollipop sticks
Egg carton (recycled and optional)
Styrofoam
Lollipop bags (optional)

Directions

Place cookies in food processor and pulse until ground up into fine crumbs.
Place in mixing bowl with softened cream cheese.
Mix thoroughly.
Scoop same sized balls and roll into shape and place on baking sheet (golf ball size).
Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
Mold in cake mold; allow some excess on the sides rather than trying to force the entire ball into the mold.
Wipe off excess and remove “cupcake.”
Melt dark colored chocolate first.
Dip bottom of “cupcake” into chocolate.
Insert lollipop stick into bottom and place in egg carton, cake side down, dipped side up; leave alone while chocolate sets.
Melt white chocolate.
Dip cupcake tops into chocolate, turn right side up and push lollipop stick into Styrofoam.
Add an M&M while chocolate is still soft and sprinkle with candy sprinkles of choice (confetti or colored sugar sprinkles).
Allow to completely set.
Wrap in lollipop bags if desired, tying with ribbon.
Once chocolate sets, they are ready to eat. Enjoy!

There are baked recipe versions of cake pops and so many different ways to decorate them. Biggest challenge of this cupcake pop recipe? Not eating the Oreos while making the pops! Have fun!
